Super Show 9: Road in SG – Walking The Road Ahead & Growing Old Together with 老少年

You heard them right.

The legendary Hallyu Kings are FINALLY back with Super Show 9 after 1681 days.

Enthralled in a state of Deja Vu, one could feel goosebumps as the sapphire blue ocean lit up across Singapore Indoor Stadium as Super Junior took the stage.

They belted classics after classics with their signature, seasoned, slick and synchronised dance moves. It was truly euphoric as you experienced the so-ever-familiar flow of adrenaline gushing through all your veins.

Never felt so alive since the pandemic.

Engulfed in bewilderment, ELFs (collective name for SJ’s fandom) were in a temporary state of confusion trying to differentiate between reality, dream or memory.Did we just get transported back with a time machine? It felt as if the 1681 days of separation didn’t exist.

As the stage curtains drew and fog clearing up, seeing the guys strapped to red bands like marionettes felt like a dream scene within another dream.

Watching “Burn The Floor” LIVE gives you a more “majestic” presence with the stage settings, red bands and hand lights which the octet maneuvered so proficiently.

It was a cinematic experience encased by resounding cheers that were better than Dolby Surround Sound System.

The roars of never fading enthusiasm from ELFs who have been lovelorned for 4 years, was an eargasm feast.

SS9 was nothing short of being entertaining, engaging, heart thumping and heartwarming.

It wasn’t just the showmanship, stage choreography, their sincerity, wit, humour and some dorkiness, but the assurance that SUJU and ELFs are still united in heart and spirit, that made it truly special.

We laughed at their goofiness, rolled eyes at their “crap”, cringed at their mushiness, cheered for their performances, felt warmed by their fan service and thoughtful gestures, but also cried along with them in sadness.

Just like how long term friends would.

They seemed to enjoy such fan reactions, thus they would always give us electrifying stage performances, lame and funny banter, hilarious cosplay outfits, fan service and tear-jerking speeches (sometimes).

The usual SUJU Super CRAP Talk was nothing short of lameness, corny jokes, digging fun at members and even “suaning” ELFs for being old grannies.

We appreciate how they tried to converse more in English, Chinese and even Singlish.

From “Ho Sey Bo” to “We Super Long Never Meet Liao”, “Singapore pore pore pore”, “I miss you so much la”, “Can you not get any prettier? I’m older now, my heart can’t handle this”, and the “Speak ONLY English Policy” that got us into a world of berries with “Very very… strawberry, raspberry, blueberry“, “your wish, my wish, sandwich”, it further minimised the communication barrier.

They are still the same old crazy dorks, yet they exude a glowing aura on stage.

SS9 is special in every aspect, with an additional spoonful of heartwarming vibes.

Not just being the first Super Show Tour since the pandemic and what Eunhyuk had gone through the past 1 month, but it’s also the 1st whereby all 8 members finally appeared in full force (excluding Heechul).

SUJU and ELFs ascertained the common goal in moving forward together on the road ahead.

Regardless where SUJU is heading, the sapphire blue ocean will always embrace them and catch their backs.

This concert will leave a space in SJ’s hearts.

SG ELFs are comforted to know that the members felt comfortable enough to share their joys, worries and tears with us, especially after the Manila incident.

Wished Eunhyuk was given more time to properly mourn and face his emotions. However, as working adults, we know life and work has to go on.

From pyrotechnics, majestic stage settings, centre and side extension stages, center stage lightings that move in all directions from the ceiling, Label SJ was sincere in giving fans the stage extravaganza most KPOP groups have.

While they no longer bring their signature rotating stages or fountain stages since the SS3 & SS4 days, it felt like less is more.

They proved they are still kings in their own league, for being so well-loved even close to 2 decades.

Getting increasingly lovable as they age, it’s the meaningful 小巧思  and thoughts put into preparing their stages that tug at our heartstrings.

Even after having “dated” for so many years, they never fail to bring you more surprises.

It’s all about forging forward together.

Concert Title resonates with Theme and Set list

Did you notice the subtle but powerful messages & 小小玄机 that SJ hid on their set list?

“Keep on going” is their motto. The concert theme is woven in beautifully with the song sequence. It implies more than just traveling on the road ahead.

They started by “Burning the Floor” with their opening acts and proved why they are still befitting of “The Crown”, with their “SUPER” energetic and charismatic performances on stage.

How romantic it was to wrap up the concert with a reassuring and heartwarming message to ELFs. That is, they wish to have “more days with you”, so that we could all “Walkin”, “Happiness”.

How can you not love these dorks? There’s always a Magical Touch that they put to their set list.

Hidden Messages The Dorks Wish to Convey

Kudos to our concert choreographer, Mr Lee Hyuk Jae (Eunhyuk) who put in tremendous thought and effort into preparing SS9. Am sure the guys chipped in their ideas as well.

If you pay close attention to their performances , you will notice some hidden messages. This is what I enjoy dissecting whenever I zoom into their performances.

As I was re-living the concert in my head and re-watching fan videos, it suddenly daunted upon me that..

Other than “forging on ahead together”, there could also be a theme of transcending time/ time slip.

From the opening set with an old castle interior, they seemed to be trapped puppets/marionettes being released after centuries.

Their real selves could be vampires/werewolves as depicted by the dance choreography during the black and mysterious segment.

From puppets trapped for centuries, to showing their real vampire/werewolves selves, then starting anew in a more nature theme with forest and floral backdrops and costumes during the ballad segment.

That’s before any form of civilisation existed.

The song “Believe” suggested that they had faith in having a new leash a life.

As time slowly passed, they met the Gods of Musicians from the 17th Century.

It then fast forwarded to them easing into civilization and leading real human lives, with the fun-loving denim segment, just like a “House Party”. When it’s time to party, they would party hard like everyone else to release stress. That’s how we got the Wild & Rock segment.

Their real mission was to seek true happiness in the human world.

It could just be a coincidence. These may not be real linkages to the theme but it gives you food for thought regarding what they were trying to bring across.

The bottom line they wanted to convey could be, they love performing since the beginning of time, and that 初衷 will not change regardless how time passes.

If u piece them together with ur imagination, it’s not just the setlist that had hidden meanings.

Performances

The opening stage was lit.

Used to think that starting the show with “Burn the Floor” isn’t as impactful as starting with “Superman” or “The Crown”.

It exuded a mysterious vibe and depicted how they are like “puppets” /marionettes hanging from the strings in the entertainment industry.

Their every move on and off stage are being controlled and scrutinized.

Compared to their debut days, the veteran boyband is given more freedom in doing what they wish to in their careers now. Nonetheless, there are rules within the industry they still have to adhere to as IDOLS.

The moment they let go of the red ropes strapped to their arms, it symbolised a release from these external forces and they could take charge of their own future.

It could be interpreted as breaking free from the shackles of the entertainment industry/societal pressures, or finally breaking through the pandemic restrictions.

The hand lights signified that their ray of hope/light or destiny is within their own hands.

命运掌握在自己手里。

The atmosphere was further heightened with Eunhyuk’s entrancing solo dance opening for “The Crown”.

As Eunhyuk took the stage, ELFs across the stadium began chanting “Lee Hyuk Jae” in unison. The fan chant’s so loud, clear and powerful that we could be sure Eunhyuk was trying to get his beat right while possibly fighting off some tears.

Remember how he asked fans in Seoul NOT to chant his name, else he would miss his beat, yet acceded to figuring a way out?

In SG context, he was probably thinking aloud “Wah Lao, already told these people NOT to shout my name!”, but we could be 1000% certain, he was touched.

It brought me goose bumps and tears, what more to the man himself.

SG fans are so subtle to the point SJ may wonder, if SG ELFs are simply bo chup, or they do not find SJ appealing anymore? Nonetheless, when it comes to times we needed to step up to shower Eunhyuk with the utmost support, there was no holding back.

We are just 闷骚 and could contain it better, but are as inertly passionate as other worldwide ELFs.

“The Crown” is my favourite in “Time Slip”. It’s a song that should go hand-in-hand with “Superman”, to get the best 王者风范效应。

Love their smart blue costumes, that make them look like royalties and knights in blue armour.

The guys continued to dance to “Super” and went to the side runways during a part of “Mr Simple”. It brought the atmosphere to its first climax barely 10 minutes into the show.

My heart skipped a beat as I watched my 2 bias – Lee Teuk and Eunhyuk, dancing less than 10m away from me. Lee Hyuk Jae is no doubt SJ’s dancing machine. Every punch and groove was so on the beat.

Donghae was literally glowing from his skin with his handsome yet boyish looks.

Despite Yesung badly needing a haircut, the main vocalist brought smiles as we saw how he was also trying his best to nail the dance steps beside the lead dancers.

Black and Mysterious

Recalling how well received the sexy edition of “It’s You” performance was during SS7, whereby the guys were blindfolded and had some 贴身 dancing with the female dancers, it’s a delight they dedicated a 3-song medley to the “Black and Mysterious” segment this round.

As these guys retain their youthful, boyish looks while they age like fine wine, it is precisely because they are more matured now so they could carry off sexy moves with more 韵味。

Clad in black, glittery, somewhat sexy (with lace and v-necklines for some members) shirts and fitting pants, this segment took a slightly toned-down pace, with a sexier and mysterious allure.

It exuded a fusion of musical dance performance with “Ticky Tocky” and a more sultry chair dance with “Mystery“. “Ticky Tocky” felt like an extension from “Burn the Floor“, whereby it took a turn from being White to Black.

After being released from the red bands like marionettes, the octet seemed more like vampires/werewolves living in an old castle. That was derived from their 力道 & “clawing” actions.

There’s a mystic aura surrounding the “Paradox + Mystery” segment. We love how seamless the transition between these 2 songs was. It felt like they belonged to different parts of the same song.

Playing with lighting and the boxes’ reflections in contrast to their all-black outfit, “Mystery” was indeed infused with bewitching and sexy moves, coupled with mysterious vibes from the dry ice.

Memorable Bits of Super Talk Show

What’s a Super Show without the highly acclaimed Super Talk Show / Super Crap Talk?

As the guys rambled way too much, we’ll just list down the more memorable and funny bits of their crappy banter.

For the Opening Ment, we have Siwon the “撩妹王” who reminded us not to get any prettier as he’s getting older, Kyuhyun the “Best Effort Award” winner who won us at “Ho Sey Bo” and Lee Teuk the long-winded “Chilli Crab Killer”. His stamina is so good that he could go “Singa Pore Pore Pore” for very long.

Not forgetting, Shindong who’s amused with ELFs’ understanding of simple Korean without translation, Yesung the “O-MG” King, Donghae the “Flying Kisser”, Eunhyuk the “I love you La” flirt and Ryeowook aka Mr “Jashin Isseo?”!

Ment 1

Ryeowook: “Yorobeum, Jashin Isseoyo? Jashin Isseoyo? (Are you confident?) One more time, Jashin Isseo? Thank you.”

Siwon: Singapore, it’s been a long time huh? I feel like I was dreaming yesterday when I got here. I want to ask you 1 thing. Why are you so pretty?

Don’t get any prettier than this NOW. My heart cannot handle it now. Cos I’m getting old, and you are prettier than before. So just do me a favour.

Let’s have an amazing time today.  I still can’t believe I’m here now. 我永远爱你。谢谢你们。

The most hilarious yet most 亲切 MENT came from the evil maknae. I would present him with the “Most Sincere & Hardworking Award” for his effort to assimilate into our local culture (入乡随俗).

What would SUJU do without this 活宝?

There’s a famous line in the movie “Jerry Maguire” that went “You had me at Hello”. Kyuhyun had SG ELFs at “Ho Sey Bo“! He got me at “We super long never meet liao”.

Thank you for doing your homework and bringing out the uniquely SG flavour so accurately! He would have been more well versed with all the “Wah Lao Eh, Wah Biang Eh” if he had more time to learn.

Can totally imagine him speaking Singlish like a local.

ELFs laughed in disgust, while he couldn’t helped laughing at himself either.

Lee Teuk: Thanks to all the energy I gained by eating chilli crab, I’m going to bring you the best performance.

All the stresses you have been accumulating. The stress you got from school, the stress from office (Yesung: O-M-G, O-M-G) over relationships, boyfriend, girlfriend. Hope this show washes away all yout stresses and pain.

Ballad Stage

Much as it’s cliched, a boyband isn’t a boyband without their sentimental ballads.

This was the time for them to catch a breather from the 30-min nonstop dancing and for fans to catch a good view of them standing on stage.

After being serenaded by the Ballad Kings, K.R.Y who sang “I Can’t”, it was a pleasant surprise to hear the guys crooning to their debut song “Believe”.

It was an “ear opener” whereby you could listen to every member’s solo part.
 

Listening to them sing “Believe” after 17 years, brings a powerful message that they are still around because they believe in and are still living their dreams.

The guys sat down at the extension stage and looked around at ELFs across the stadium while singing to “My Wish”.

When it came to Eunhyuk’s part, he replaced the lyrics :

“You, who will be my light, you who will hug me warmly”,
with “You, who will be my light, who will hug me warmly, ELF”.

Awww, no words needed. That’s his way of thanking ELFs for being there though his toughest times.

It was the only SS9 that Eunhyuk and Siwon didn’t grab each other’s bottoms while making their way to the main stage to sing “Callin”. Instead, Siwon put his arm reassuringly around Eunhyuk’s neck, holding him close.

Lee Teuk tripped with a loud thud while making his way up the stairs. Shindong was trying so hard to curb his giggling while Teuk blushed in embarrassment.
 

Some rare moments of them being “prim and proper”. The vibrant colourful backdrop with floral prints blend in well with their similar design shirts. It felt like spring was here.

Ment 2

Their persistence in “Speak ONLY English Policy” gave us a good belly laugh and a splendid mix of berries and sandwiches~

Yesung had his fear of speaking English, especially when his pronunciation was being teased at by his members.

Lee Teuk: That was “Believe”, a special performance just for Singapore ELFs. How did you find it?

Eunhyuk: I feel as much as I believe in our SG ELFs, and you guys also believed in us, and it really showed a good performance.

Goofy Cosplay – God of Musicians

Anyone who is familiar with Super Shows would definitely look forward to their hilarious cosplay segments.

From vegetables, Super Heroes, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, ELSA, Super Rangers, you name it, they nailed it.

What is an “IDOL” image to Super Junior?

It’s almost non-existent and it seemed they enjoy being Variety Idols more. They could go as crazy and uncontrollable as they wish to.

他们当中没有最疯，只有更疯。

They still go cranky, dorky, goofy, silly, whether they are on or off stage. Fans probably love their easy-going, unpretentious and quirky nature.

May we introduce you to our House of Musicians for SS9:

We may laugh at them, but we love them when they are goofy too.

Who would have thought of an “opera” version of “SPY”, “Rokkugo” and “Mamacita”?

This was their LOWKEY way of proving that every member has pretty good vocals and could sing LIVE.

Remember how Eunhyuk mentioned SJ aren’t EASY MEN?

They will give you a little of what you want, but you can’t get the best of everything. This guy is a seasoned “player” with our hearts, 懂得欲擒故纵。

As the saying goes, “给你一些，不给你一些“。

Likely what we term as “遗憾美“, these guys reached a compromise to perform “SPY” (which they dislike) by omitting the dance totally, because ELFs’ been requesting for “SPY” (on purpose) for years.

Opera version of “Rokkugo” was interesting, but I miss the version whereby they stacked on top of one another.

My favourite stages are the light-hearted Denim stage which brought out their fun-loving nature, and the Wild & ROCK segment which unleashed their inner wilder child.

Fun-loving Dance Stages

As it progressed to the more upbeat, fun loving and relaxing dance tunes, everyone was geared up to have more fun.

Not just it being a big “house party”, happy vibes could be felt.

Donned in casual denim outfits dancing to happy tunes of “House Party” “Everyday”, “Wonder Boy”, “Let’s Dance” and “Devil”, it was a “let your hair down” session for the audience to just chill and be in their own skin.

We’re gonna remember the cute massaging or hammering one another’s backs during “Everyday”, Siwon’s sudden jump exposing his chocolate abs during “Wonder Boy”, and their funny “duo dance battle” during “Devil”.

 

Ment 3

The savage moment when Lee Teuk got snubbed by his doppelganger that he’s even older than ELFs, yet having the audacity to call them Grannies.  We also got to know that his favourite brand is Calvin Klein for underwear. Ahem.

Eunhyuk: Yorobeun Chaego Oh saeyo? Everyone having fun? 大家开心吗?

Lee Teuk: Did you guys get tired after so long?
ELFs: NO!!

Eunhyuk: Honestly, I’m not that tired, but there were some moments I felt ELFs were a little tired.
ELFs: NO!

Eunhyuk: You’re seated. The stage you watched just now was supposed to be on your feet. It’s not against the law right? You just don’t want to stand?

Lee Teuk: Well, we should all look after our knee joints. Your knees doing ok right? Even if we are old, you can still follow us right?
ELFs: Yes

Lee Teuk: Halmeoni (Granny)…
Yesung: Harabeoji (Grandpa)…
Eunhyuk: Don’t Worry. They are all younger than you.

Yesung remarked that Lee Teuk and Eunhyuk dressed alike on stage and at the airport. Eunhyuk mentioned they are a package (twins) and Lee Teuk said they definitely don’t dress like him. =X

Donghae and Siwon noticed that Lee Teuk loves to show the top of his underwear and that he has been wearing this brand for many years. =X Eunhyuk then began tugging at Lee Teuk’s pants.

Well, dorks will be dorks.

Heating Up the Night

These guys are pretty versatile. They can be your friendly oppas next door one moment, and then switch it up by turning it into a wild, rave party next.

There’s a wild side these dorks would only unleash before their fans.

D&E, the best dancers in SJ, ignited that fire on stage and it burnt all the way till the end of the show, with the other guys in tow.

Some used to call them “Handsome & the Ugly”, but no, it’s “Handsome & the Charming”!

D&E attempted a more “bad boy” style which was superbly well-received. The “Danger” siren sounded when D&E took the stage like hot, sexy wolves. Or maybe, it’s a leopard for Eunhyuk.

Eunhyuk is like your harmless friendly guy-next-door turned into a beast on rampage when he’s on stage, while Donghae is the super droolicious, innocent, cute little lamb.

Hope they would keep “Danger” as a fixed song on their setlist. It set all our adrenaline gushing at electrifying speed.

By now, it got the hall standing on their feet, punching lightsticks in the air, swaying to the music and shrieking at the top of their lungs.

(Black Suit)

The final dance segment is very different from the SJ that many people know (though ELFs know). That power, energy and fire on stage.

Still blown away even after 9 Super Shows.

While many of SJ’s classics are pretty awesome, nothing could be as good as gold like “Sorry, Sorry” and “Bonamana” served raw on that platter.

They do it best, when it comes to SUJU’s & ELFs’ anthems.

The synergy between the artistes and fans was the most impeccable during this time.

They don’t just bask in their past glories, but move on with pride, giving new twists to the classics that propelled them to superstardom, paying tribute to the songs that changed their lives forever.

That amount of vigour and strength, twerking, punches in the air, head banging, running around the stage and , raised the heat to to the highest level.

 

Special dedicated series for my bias

Lee Teuk’s signature “Bonamana Stripper” moment was HOT, HOT, HOT~

The 360 degree rotating lights in the middle extension stage made it an even more pleasurable experience, while the performance was just LIT.

You just need a sharp eye to notice that the runways are shorter and no longer 360 degree, less dance intensive stages, and they took longer to recover from panting. It’s more tedious as they age but they still gave their very best.

This “Rave Party” segment definitely ranks high on ELFs’ charts as one of the best stages of SS9.

It may be worth considering for the group to include some songs like these in their future albums. While it may be exhausting for them, it’s gonna be a blast if they introduce such genres during concerts.

More Mature But Still Very Relevant

“Old” and “irrelevant”, are words that would automatically be disassociated with these guys when you watch their performances.

They still have what it takes and they show you they are better than before.

Try outlasting them for being 17 years in the industry and having a strong throng of followers.

The SUJU Kingdom may not be the largest, but they are KINGS in every aspect.

While it’s a toll for these guys to perform for 3 hours straight after a 3-yr hiatus from their world tour, they challenged & pushed themselves so as to bring the best performances for their beloved ELFs.

They weren’t shy to admit that age is catching up since they are in their mid to late 30s.

They were worried they couldn’t deliver a good show in SG, since they were so exhausted from their hectic schedules. They just staged 3 nites of SM Town in Japan before arriving in Singapore.

No excuses given, they took it on like REAL MEN should. Just remember that they are Super Junior, the last men standing. There’s nothing they could not get through, if they put their mind to it.

That’s definitely one open secret to their 17-yr long career.

They joked about being older, but how is it that they only got sexier and more charming? It’s only us who got older. =X

Aging has its merits after all. They are more polished, seasoned, confident, sexier and more at ease than ever on stage.

Digging jokes and poking fun at one another (without feeling offended), making blunders with their half-baked English, laughing it off when stumbling on stage, hugging Eunhyuk when he’s tearing and passing him tissue paper, they were all just so comfortable in their skin.

This is what a veteran group can take in their stride.

They gave us the best of their prime at the peak of their careers with SS3 and SS4. Not even SJ could outdo themselves.

SS9 is more focused on having fun than showcasing their talents (not that they need to deliberately). It was more comfy like a big house party amongst longtime friends.

 
 

They were just so relaxed, knowing they didn’t have to try so hard to prove anything anymore.

We are more concerned about their emotional well being.

As long as they are happy doing what they love, that’s all it matters.

Sad but Touching Moments

One of it has got to be sharing Hyukkie’s most vulnerable moments. It’s obvious they were all worn out from their hectic schedules and they were very 暖 to let Eunhyuk speak more.

We felt touched when he said the emptiness he has felt for the last 1 month was filled by ELF’s love and support, but our hearts ached seeing how strong he has to be.

How hard it is to have to cast all his sorrows and worries to the back of his mind and be as professional as usual.

He teared from time to time, backfacing the audience sometimes, or even staring blankly into the air. Siwon and Yesung took turns to comfort him.

The only thing we could do was to lend him a listening ear. We are glad he found SG ELFs trustworthy to confide in.

Dear Hyukjae, dance when you need to free your mind of worries… For we know, you are the happiest when you dance.

Shake off all those sadness, tears and sorrows. Be free, be happy.

Just dance.

Latte Group

May we present to you SJ’s newly formed sub-unit, the “Latte” group consisting of Lee Teuk, Siwon and Shindong!

Composed by our ever so talented leadernim, Lee Teuk, “Latte” has a 轻快诙谐 retro tune, which reminds one of the more carefree 80s and 90s days.

It seems like one could take time off to 悠哉悠哉 and enjoy a sip of their favourite latte. 慢活 is what anyone living in this era would look forward to.

Introducing New Songs into their Routine

One should know that you can no longer expect sheer classics at any artiste’s concerts, not just Super Shows.

While they still live the glory of their most popular “Sorry, Sorry” and “Bonamana”, they never fail to explore new genres.

“Mango” is a new refreshing delight added to their menu. With its catchy tune and interesting palatable dance choreography, it’s no doubt this song is hitting high on the chart rankings.

How hilarious when you see some ELFs on ground level waving plastic mangoes at them. =X

有什么样的偶像，就有什么样的歌迷。

“Everyday” is a chirpy song that makes you look forward to seeing them daily too.

It’s so fun watching them hammering each other’s back as they swayed from one direction to another when they go “I need you every day (One more) yes (one more)”….

“Eh Eh Eh Eh Eh , One More! Yeah Yeah Yeah Yes!”

The guys continued ranting on about their love for pepper crabs, health concerns, hoping to see ELFs for a long time. Eunhyuk shared that he was grateful to have ELFs’ support during his toughest 1 month, plus continuing to fill every seat in the stadium even after 9 Super Shows.

They asked how a couple fan met, whether it was through Super Show and how long they have been married.

Lee Teuk: Enjoying yourselves? Are you happy? This is what it feels like after not meeting girlfriends for so long.

Eunhyuk pointing to a couple: Why are you calling them girlfriends? We see couples over there.

 

Lee Teuk (did a bow): Sorry, Sorry La.

When they knew the couple have been married for 3 years, Lee Teuk asked if the husband would get jealous when his wife loves Super Junior so much?

When he was appointed as the wifey fan’s favourite, Lee Teuk smiled and showed a Thumbs Up sign.

Husband fan’s favourite member is Heechul who wasn’t present.

All members went “Hee Chul” while Lee Teuk rolled on the floor and asked for a “Number 2” =X

Everyone on stage was like: “There’s no number 2”.

While Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun were stunned that there were many male ELFs present, Lee Teuk smiled bashfully and asked : All the gentlemen, why are you guys here? You missed us? Thank you.

Members talk

Shindong: Well, I’ll be very honest with you. To me, close friends is not about meeting up very often, but even after not meeting up so often, when we get together, you know there’s still the bond with you.
 

Whenever I come to SG, that’s how I feel. We may not see each other often, but we will definitely see each other for a very long time. Stay healthy everyone. Thank you.

Ryeowook: It’s been sometime since we last put up a performance in SG, and honestly I was a little concerned.

After we got here, we didn’t sleep well. What you guys are seeing on stage is us having fun and interacting with you, and putting up our best for you. But at the back, I saw some members being exhausted. But still trying their best to put up the show, I was really touched by that.

Moving forward, I really don’t know how long we can keep our energy level this high, but we will continue to try our best and hope to see you all for a long time. Thank you.

Donghae: Since I arrived in SG and since I met you guys tonight, I must say all the moments have been filled with happiness. I’m here in such a beautiful country.

3: We exercised in the hotel yesterday
2: We had a fantastic rehearsal earlier this morning
1: Of course we have our concert

1: We are enjoying ourselves so much right now.

3: Not forgetting, we promise that we will be back again.

I feel happier that just imagining I’ll be back here meeting all the SG ELFs again. Thank you very much and we promise we’ll be back soon. I love you guys forever and 永远在一起。

Yesung: Having fun? So many thoughts crossed my mind as I was performing on stage.

Even though we couldn’t meet for the last few years, I always felt the support and love from far. I am extremely touched . Thank you very much for that. Even if we are not going to meet face to face, don’t forget that I’m always feeling your love and support. I promise that we will be meeting very very soon. Stay happy till we meet again.

Siwon: It’s been 3 years. Let’s make up for the lost time and meet more often now.  We all have been looking forward to this moment. I’m also glad that you enjoyed it.

Let’s walk forward towards the same goal together. Thank you for getting through the dark times. Thank you for waiting. Thank you for being with us.

I have 3 projects shooting simultaneously I, so I’m really concerned about my health condition. But after I meet you in SG I feel fully recovered. See you soon. We still have a long long road ahead of us. Guys, we have a future together. And we will always be together. Thank you and God Bless You Singapore. I love you all. 神祝福你们。

Kyuhyun: Erm, today… Fantastic! Today, I did my best. Did you see that? Everyone, I hope you enjoyed yourselves and you might be a little tired after going through the concert for so long.

Eunhyuk: It was such a special show. Tonight’s show was so special to me. I went through a difficult one month. I have a lot of worries and concerns before I finally come to meet you.

There was this space in my heart that was left empty and seeing all of you here today, I think that empty space has been filled up. Thank you very very much.

This is the 9th Super Show. After so many years, you guys are still filling up every seat here and supporting us. Even though we do tours and release new albums every year.. We are worried about will our ELFs still come and see us?

After seeing everyone here tonight, I realised all the worries were for nothing. And just like the song we just sang for you (More days with you), we hope we walk a long, long way ahead of us. Kamsahamnida. Thank you so much. I love you la. I love you Singapore.

Once again, leadernim began ranting (while the guys were shaking their heads) about needing to wrap up soon as he planned to eat 3 crabs after the show. He would return to SG when his pepper energy is running low.

Kyuhyun: You have nothing to say to your fans?

Lee Teuk: I’m about to start. I just love you guys.

Eunhyuk, Siwon, Kyuhyun wanted to roll eyes.

Lee Teuk: There’s no reason for that. I just love you. I’m going to continue to like you, and love you. And that’s all, as simple as that. Just Do It.

The guys looked bewildered.

What did we miss?

Solo stages and “Don’t Wait” were scrapped off beginning from SG.

It’s with great sadness there’s no “2YA2YAO” (WHY??!!!), Lee Teuk’s reknowned 90 degree bow at every corner of the hall (he probably didn’t manage to do so due to time constraints), and their signature thumb kiss.

What’s lacking was mainly no direct contact with the guys, such as physical interaction for wefies, handshakes, Hi-5,etc. SG stop has the furthest “social distance” and strictest security.

It’s hard for us to understand why audience was not allowed to stand during fast tracks, especially when the artistes already requested to do so. There was no pushing, no leaning against barricades and railings.

Felt kinda embarrassed when we were asked time and again to stand. The guys even asked if it were illegal to do so in SG, or was it that we didn’t wish to stand?

Ommo, that’s a big misunderstanding. SG’s concert scene has a lot to improve on this matter.

Hurdles

They are always crossing hurdle after hurdle, ordeal after ordeal, but they always made it through.

Perhaps like the saying goes “the phoenix rises from the ashes”. Without all the crisis and difficulties honing and sculpting them to be so resilient now, they would have never come this far.

SJ has been plagued with many misfortunes since their debut, from being a project group meant for only 1 year, getting into major accidents, controversies, members leaving, military service and many other major setbacks.

It crippled, but didn’t shatter them. The 7-yr disbandment curse didn’t get to them either. Super Junior outlived their FATE.

ELFs have been their incredulous force and strength for the past 17 years, weathering all storms and tsunamis, which keeps them going like A MIRACLE.

The guys know that it’s common that fans jump ships easily, that’s why they always respect ELFs for that unwavering love and give their best shot.

Be it 13, 15 or the active SJ members now, they wouldn’t be here still if not for all their effort right from the beginning.

“Whether it’s included or excluded, Super Junior is still Super Junior”.

This will never be erased from their history. Members & ELFs whom remain foster an even more unbreakable bond.

“This is Love, This is Love” started chumming in my head. What would this be, if it isn’t love?

It’s Not an “End”, but an “And”

Time flies by faster when you are having fun. It was about time to wrap up the concert with their final MENT and ENCORE.

More than just being a song dedicated to ELFs, “More Days with You” is a pact that SJ made to continue forging on so that they could have many more days ahead with their most beloved fandom.

The final Ment tugged at our heartstrings more than ever.

Hyukkie was tearing badly. Yesung had a surprised look but we saw how warm he was by putting his hand on Hyukkie’s shoulder and even held his hand till they had to start singing on the runway.

This “Tom & Jerry” duo have their squabbly moments, but they share heartwarming times too.

We knew he was probably thinking about his dad. He teared everytime when it came to this song at other stops, more so now.

It was a 温馨时刻 when you noticed the guys nodding and waving at fans from all areas and acknowledging the banners, boards.

Lee Teuk seemed so comfortable in his own skin that he was skipping along his way during “Walkin”.

 

It’s time our best leader get some good times ahead. He’s always there for the members whenever things happen and he shows us what a dependable and responsible man he is with all that’s been happening. We are so glad that you are the leader of SJ.

As they embarked on that “Happiness” Choo Choo Train across the stadium, it felt like a roundabout to close the years of gap we haven’t met. This affinity would be going in cycles, which signifies a never-ending loop.

While Singapore is a small country, the cheers, atmosphere were nothing short of being “HIGH”. The guys put in their best performance and exhausted all their energy regardless.

It was a few minutes dedicated to fans from all over the stadium to have a closer look at them.

As they said their final “Uri neun Super Juni- oyeo”,  and ELFs “Uri neun ELF Oyeo”, we knew it’s gonna be a long wait till we get to see them again.

Lee Teuk: Thank you once again to SG ELFs for having a great time with us and for enjoying our show.

The Road Ahead

These dorks have come a long way.

What we are certain of is they will not be bogged down by obstacles. They will make through it, with ELFs being their driving force.

 

For anyone who thought of, but did not make it to watch SS9, you should really make it to SS10. It’s gonna be a blast. Number 10 is not merely a milestone for them, but also an all new beginning.

虽然身为活动17年的”高龄” 男团老是被人嫌弃，但其实有很多人还是把他们当宝来疼惜的。

希望各国的粉丝就尽量热情点吧。不是只有特特是关种，其实他们都渴望这份爱。

Dear dorks, go where you are loved and feel alive.
