After not watching my favourite band perform for 3 years, the audience was at an all-time high. Most stood, grooved & jumped throughout the concert, whilst waving the central controlled light sticks. The “Lalala” during 憨人, white flashlights, encore chants, singing and cheering loudly, was something that took them by surprise.
Well done, Singapore. You know when to step out of your dormant mode. From all the concerts I have ever attended, Mayday is the only artiste that can get audience springing from their seats to stand and jump from the very first song, almost through to the very end.
It isn’t easy to get Singapore audience to do the above mentioned.
That’s probably what we call releasing all your energy after bottling up for so long.
I was already panting after 5 or 6 songs. Man, it’s been far too long. They need to come more often to stage concerts. Good for us to lose some weight.

如果我们不曾相遇，我又会是在哪里?
This was something that I was pondering whilst at the concert.
This sentence not just pertains to your loved ones, family members and friends, but also, if these 5 guys did not appear in my life 15 years ago, how different would my life have been?
Just that last minute decision to buy a ticket to their farewell concert in 2001, knowing only 3 songs – 疯狂世界，温柔，人生海海, has brought me all the way from my 20s & now 30s. Not to mention all the friends that I have made through the years.
It’s funny how affinity plays a part in our lives and also every decision that we make, does result in different consequences.
I’m someone determined if I set my heart to something, but there are times when you feel really lost. That’s when their music comes to influencing & pulling me through. Their music can be healing when you are going through some difficult times. At least for me, it works.
The final performance of the 2 nights, much as we hoped it would never end. Everyone went into a frenzy, including the uncles themselves, finally not as tame as 1st night.
We don’t know when the next gig will be, but since 刘老板 promised to 包 us a 街头演唱会, with the other 4 大叔s chipping in, we will just wait for that. Hopefully within 1 year? But the crowd might get way too huge.
他们是越老越吃香. They are in their 40s (only Masa is 39), 没有俊男，没有6块腹肌，和随时会走音的主唱, 老梗一玩再玩, but the fan base has been growing steadily, from young fans to old fans. And somehow, their fans have been pretty loyal.
They “lie” quietly in our CD Players, MP3 Players and accompany us all these years, so it isn’t really surprising why the fans return them with such generous spontaneity during their concerts. This is what the artistes need most as encouragement.
It’s a 2-way relationship.
Without Mayday, many of us may still be just resigned to our fates and daren’t take the chance to really venture into doing what we like, much less to follow our hearts and our dreams.
You may say they are just strangers, but yes… strangers close to our hearts.
We do not know one another in real life, yet they are like the catalyst for some change in all of us. Good ones of course.
Without the fans, there would be No Mayday.
They know this very well for sure.
If you ask me, I think they are the very low profile, down-to-earth & 一步一脚印 kinda artiste.
They are like 细水长流型 to us, just like how wine tastes better over time. You are not fanatically crazy over them, but you will be there to support and unleash it all to enjoy yourselves during their concerts.
Their songs’ genre might have changed a little over the years but I guess that is normal as they go through different stages in life.
It doesn’t matter to me anymore if they are commercialised etc, as long as they keep to the pact of singing till 80 years old.
Well, they are not like boy bands whereby you will just stop liking them after a few years. Their uniqueness lies in the fact that their songs can just keep you going for a very long time.
Many people would ask me, aren’t they always repeating the same songs? Why would you even want to go every time they stage a concert or even watch 2 nights of the same theme?
Well, how should I put it?
To me, their concert is not just meant for entertainment value or to hear how good they can sing, since we all know Ashin is still far from being a really good vocalist.
It is the atmosphere, the strength, the inspiration and positive energy that you can draw from their songs, tonnes of fun and laughter from their “colourful jokes” and “rubbish talk” too.

The relationship between Mayday and their fans is really like what they label as “没大没小”…
It’s indeed 没距离感, they are 平民百姓 just like us。。
五月天的精神是什么?
就是 “憨人” 这首歌..
I think they draw comfort, solace and encouragement from the sea of blue too. The bobbing light sticks represent thousands and thousands of people who love their music and are willing to spend money to watch their performance.
To the fans, that Sea of Blue and Number 5 means something more significant.
The 5 of them comes as a package to us, just like you can’t lose any finger on your hand.
Some call them poison, a cult or religion… which I think, is over exaggerated.
Don’t worry; they are not harmful or lethal.
They are a positive source of energy.
This marks my 15th year with them. I still can’t quite believe how time flies. There were so many times when I thought I couldn’t get through certain difficult phases in life, but I still did ultimately.
We attend every Mayday Concert as if it were their very last, which is why everyone just went all out to party really hard.
As the theme says, “Just Rock It”!
They changed the rundown a little on Day 2 and boy, was I really surprised and glad to hear 盛夏光年 & 雌雄同体, 超人，志明与春娇!
I love the song list for 2nd night but as usual, they can never finish singing all the songs that I like. 一颗苹果 for the 2 nights is also something that I loved about this concert.
It is my Annual Therapy Session for recharge.
But well, like they said, we will keep the 2 nights worth of memories and wait till the next time we meet.
Just keep the concerts going.
We don’t mind the same songs till we are 80 seriously.
Like they said, after the concert, we need to go back to our daily lives and 好好的过我们的生活。。
No matter how time passes, just remember that we must be 倔强 & 顽固 enough to stay true to who we are.
顽固 is one of my most favourite in the new album and am so happy that they sang it.
憨人, 人生海海, 倔强，一颗苹果, can keep us going for some time.
Just don’t make us wait another 3 yrs before the next gig.
