Clueless as to why he’s crowned as the “Nation’s Boyfriend” in Korea, Park Seo Jun thinks the only reason is because he’s an honest person.

After having spent a good 2 hours at the fan meet, we’re not surprised as to how he earned his title & can certainly list you some very good reasons.

He’s not just eligible boyfriend material, but also a Male Best Friend aka Buddy material.

Park Seo Jun earned the hearts of those present with his earnest & easy going nature. He’s straightforward but takes time to warm up. He’s pretty humorous in his own “Pabo”way.

Just like Ko Dong Man, he’s a very down-to-earth person who works hard to attain his goals. He has just been awarded the “Best New Actor Award” for his movie “Midnight Runners” and undoubtedly, one of the rising stars in Korea.

He’s got a strong sense of justice & responsibility. He may not be a “walk out of comic” character, but he has a warm & personable allure that draws you to him.

Host Matthew Zachary Liu encouraged fans to snap & video to their hearts’ content. This made the whole event more relaxed & enjoyable. The power of social media should not be undermined. By sharing interesting, funny videos & pictures online, it can reach out to more fans worldwide. It is also good publicity for the artiste.

Park Seo Jun’s very amicable & his fan service was excellent.

While most fan meets have similar rundown, no one seemed to really mind if they could spend some quality time with their favourite star.

Sometimes, it is the simplest things in life that make it more enjoyable.

I appreciate his sincerity in how he spent a lot of time & effort in preparing the pasta for his fans. He also answered every question from the audience (that was not scripted).

Now, that is quite uncommon for a Korean fan meet as most questions needed to be screened through prior to the event.

He’s pretty 亲民 & accommodating, when he took selfies & gave big hugs to all who went on stage. He acceded to fans’ requests of recording “Good Morning” videos, singing BD songs, even teasing the fans with a “No” when they wanted to him to say “I Love You”.

The Dong Saeng was at the exit, patiently awaiting everyone who passed by, met their eyes, raised both his palms and did a “High 10” gently, saying “Thank You” in English.

That’s what we call being earnest and sincere.

We would love to have Park Seo Jun back on Sunny Island soon definitely!Read More →

Rejoice, Backstreet Boys fans! Nick Cater just announced that they are working on their new album & will be taking on a new World Tour soon!

“I don’t care, who you are, where you’re from, what you did, as long as you love me”…

If you find yourself singing along to these lyrics instantaneously, there’s no denying we are from the same era. We are fortunate to grow up with some of the finest Boybands’ songs.

The “Golden Era of Boybands” that belonged to Take That, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Westlife and so many more…

24 years it’s been and they definitely have got it goin’ on.

20,000 tickets were snapped up in a flash for more than a good reason.

Walking down memory lane to reminisce “Yesteryears once more” has never been more fun & enjoyable. It’s like a high school reunion party. You knew exactly when to join in for the lyrics when they threw the mic out at you.

Growing up and aging is an inevitable process, but what better way to celebrate this graceful journey together with these 5 men & their adoring fans?

You had “permission” to just go wild, shriek to your lungs’ contentment, singing, grooving & dancing along to the most popular boyband of all time.

Nostalgia at its very best.

AJ Mclean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson & Nick Carter may have dad bods now, but that did not take away their glamour on stage.

Don’t all 90s boybands have synchronised dance moves?

They were either decked in leather or diamante jackets, doing their famous synchronised old-school dance moves such as the “Zombie Dance” during “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”, reviving the Folding Chair Dance during “As Long As You Love Me”, lifting their index finger when they sang this line “You are my fire, the ONE desire” during “I Want it That Way”. Swaying their mic stands during ballads such as “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”, was also an iconic 90s boyband stance.

We don’t mind a layer of “cheese” added to their dance moves.

Good ol’ cheese tastes oh so good.

You’d been blown away by their LIVE singing, despite Brian’s medical condition with his vocal cord. They could harmonise so well, sapping all the fans’ energy, attention and affection in an instant.

The guys weaved their ways into fans’ hearts effortlessly with all the sweet nothings, such as Nick’s “We love each and every one of you”, “We Love you so much, Thanks for being the best fans in the entire world!”, & Howie’s “Thank You for keeping the Backstreet pride alive!”

The concert set list was a replica of their Las Vegas Tour, with 20 classics such as “Larger than Life”, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”, “We’ve Got It Going On”, “Drowning”, “Incomplete”, “Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely”, “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”, “Quit Playing Games with My Heart”, “As Long As You Love Me”, “I Want It That Way” & “More Than That”.

As they belted out their classic hits & award charting ballads, memories flooded your mind and it just tugged at your heartstrings.

It’s easy to resonate with at least one BSB song since your adolescent years. Lyrics would just come out of your mouth automatically, as if they were ingrained in your hearts.

They have moved along with the times pretty well and will continue to do so as a mainstream boy/men band.

With the legions of loyal fans around the globe, it’s almost a guarantee that their next album and concert tour will sell like hotcakes.

BSB fans are not ready to let them go, as yet.

Growing old is sweeter with them around.

Backstreet’s Back, Alright!

Keep rocking, Guys!

We want it that way!

Jae Joong’s back with his much anticipated post-military comeback drama “Manhole: Feel So Good”. The comedic time travel drama did not reap in high ratings but scored as the 3rd lowest rated drama of the time slot.

Nonetheless, I pretty enjoyed the drama, which brought me some laughter & entertainment value. There’s a little of 那些年, but also a lot of fun and energy with its young and energetic cast.

It is interesting to discover many things that he had missed out through the years and while trying to put things right, it creates a ripple/ butterfly effect and would affect the future.

It’s pretty entertaining when you see Bong Pil becoming an entirely person after he returns from the past every time, such as being a gangster, someone in comatose with his soul wandering around, policeman, etc. It also alters the future and relationships between his friends. It’s pretty hilarious when you see him “living” a life that is so diverse beyond his imagination, every 12 hours.

You also feel his exasperation and turmoil when no one else believes whatever he said, because no one will remember what happened after he returns to the present. He just kept repeating his life in a different manner and it just draws Soo Jin apart from him as time goes by with all the misunderstandings.

If you remember the villain in “Strong Woman, Do Bong Soon”, Jang Mi Kwan is back as another 令人咬牙切齿的 antangonist. He’s really got the potential, and gives you the chills sometimes as someone with anger management issues and would turn very violent when things don’t go his way. We may see another “Namgoong Min” in the making, in terms of his potential in attempting “villainous” route.

While this drama may not be that well received, it still serves as a nice 无厘头 rom-com. It’s good to be able to re-live your adolescent years from high school to university, etc and all the excursions you had with your friends.

A little bit of 那些年 is good. The skies, the sea and your bunch of friends…

That’s typically heaven already.

If you are a fan of Jaejoong, I’m sure you will pull through it and be thrilled with all the surprises he would give with his new outfits and images.Read More →

Midnight Runners, is all you need after a hard week at work, to keep you entertained on a Friday night. It’s like chilling with Lemon or Lime Mojito, with a refreshing twist to kick-start your weekend and it would leave you with a sweet after taste.

There’s not just lotsa laughter, but also an eye feast (literally), with young, hot bods (6 packs, biceps, triceps) of 2 rising stars (Park Seo Joon & Kang Ha Neul) in Korea.

You get a bit of everything from action to comedy, visual aesthetics (no romance though), yet not excessively violent or bloody like many action-packed Korean movies may get. It’s pretty well-balanced and well-paced. It isn’t draggy and there’s no time for boredom.

As the title says it, there’s a lot, a lot of running during midnight. The action scenes are bound to keep you breathless while watching the guys sprint their way from long winding roads to narrow alleys. You can literally label them as “Running Men”.

You’d be laughing half the time with the hilarious things they do, yet it did not fall into the category of slapstick comedy.

There’re some societal topics being brought out in the movie,

1) Putting self before others, or vice versa?

2) How materialistic people are these days. Before you decide to be friends with someone, you would assess their societal status.

3) Would you challenge red tape and protocol, if someone’s life is at stake?

4) Are you doing what you enjoy? Do you understand the rationale of why you are doing what you are doing now?

We all need to explore, to understand ourselves further.

It’s never too late to revive that fire in your heart, no matter what your passion or dream was/is.

You only live once, and you should not regret what you did not do.

There are dark moments but the light-heartedness of the friendship between the 2 leads, make it a very enjoyable journey to watch these recruits grow and mature in the movie.

This movie is definitely worth a ticket to the cinema over the weekend.

I’m sure it’s not just for swooning female fans, the guys would like it too.Read More →

It’s a well-thought out, simple but impactful gig, for Derrick Hoh to bid farewell to the current phase of his music career, before he embarks on the next phase to embrace new challenges. It was a cosy but intimate, heartfelt sharing session, which connected the home-grown singer with his fans.

The concept of this mini concert should be “Back to Basics, Simplicity at its Best”, with no frills no thrills but 满满的诚意和感谢。

There were about 17 or more songs in the set list which include 为梦想闪耀,晴天, 柠檬甜甜的, 换我爱你, 做你的他, 当我知道你们相爱,每时每刻,变化,假装不了,All I want, 我恨我爱你, Love Song, 原谅我, 我不會唱歌, 克罗地亚的天空, 你走天桥,我走地下道…

It hasn’t been 一眨眼 for Derrick Hoh but the little chipmunk from“Project Superstar” has grown and matured over the years, yet still keeping his 初衷.

His voice is still as soothing and gentle to the ears.

Sincerity definitely can be felt.

There was also an additional autograph and photo taking session whereby Derrick could express his thanks to his fans and also for the fans to be able to give him some encouragement and support while bringing back some fond memories.

Thanks for the heartfelt performance.

Jiayou, my favourite little chipmunk from Project Superstar~

We’ll see you around and looking forward to more works from you!Read More →
